Rams Trade for Defensive Star Myles Garrett from Browns

The Los Angeles Rams have strengthened their roster by trading for Myles Garrett, the league's reigning defensive player of the year, from the Cleveland Browns. In this significant move, the Rams sent edge rusher Jared Verse along with a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick to Cleveland.

Garrett, a nine-year veteran and five-time All-Pro, had a standout season last year, leading the league with 23 sacks and bringing his career total to 125½. He is set to earn $31.5 million this season. Meanwhile, Verse, who was the 19th overall pick in the 2024 draft and had 7½ sacks last season, expressed gratitude to the Rams on social media after the trade.

This trade marks the second major move for the Rams this offseason, following their acquisition of All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie earlier in the year. General manager Les Snead's aggressive strategy has previously paid off, leading to a Super Bowl title in 2022. Currently, the Rams are seen as strong contenders for Super Bowl LXI, bolstered by a roster featuring notable players such as MVP quarterback Matthew Stafford.

The upcoming season for the Rams will commence on September 10 against the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia, where they will aim to leverage their enhanced defensive lineup, which now includes Garrett alongside other standout defenders.
