The San Antonio Spurs rallied in Game 3 at Madison Square Garden, beating the New York Knicks 115-111 and narrowing the series margin to two games to three.
The San Antonio Spurs overcame a late Knicks surge to win Game 3 of the NBA Finals 115-111 at Madison Square Garden, reducing New York's series lead to 2-1. Jalen Brunson hit a three-pointer with 33.7 seconds left to bring the Knicks within three points, but De’Aaron Fox answered with a bucket that restored a five-point margin. OG Anunoby’s three-pointer cut the deficit to two with 9.4 seconds remaining, yet Stephon Castle was fouled and made both free throws to re-establish a two-possession lead.
The Knicks posted a record-breaking 42-point second quarter, the most ever by a team in a Finals quarter, but were outscored by 22 points over the remaining three quarters. Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs with 32 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three blocks, while also scoring several alley-oop finishes near the basket. Brunson finished with 32 points on 11-for-25 shooting but recorded five turnovers and entered foul trouble in the fourth quarter.
Other notable performances included OG Anunoby’s 28 points for the Knicks and Stephon Castle’s 23 points for the Spurs. Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 11 points, and Mikal Bridges scored two points on 1-for-5 shooting. The Knicks committed 13 turnovers, many unforced, and struggled defensively on the perimeter, allowing the Spurs to capitalize.
The victory marks the road team’s third consecutive win in the series, keeping the Finals tightly contested.
