Cave Rescue in Laos Successfully Saves Four Miners

Resumen

Rescue operations in Laos have successfully freed four miners trapped in a flooded cave for over a week, while efforts continue to locate two others still missing.

Four miners trapped in a flooded cave in Laos for more than a week were successfully rescued on Saturday, bringing to safety all five individuals found alive. The men were located in the central Xaysomboun Province, where they had been searching for gold before heavy rains inundated the cave.

The rescue, led by divers including Mikko Paasi, occurred after rescuers managed to pump sufficient water out of the cave. The men emerged around 3 p.m. local time, and celebrations ensued among the rescue team. Paasi expressed relief post-rescue, stating, "We really did everything we could, and it’s been a very exhausting week," as efforts now shift to locating two additional miners still unaccounted for deeper in the cave.
