Stranded Humpback Whale 'Timmy' Found Dead Near Denmark
The humpback whale known as 'Timmy,' which had stranded multiple times off Germany's Baltic Sea coast, was found dead near Denmark's Anholt island, according to AP News and NPR. The whale had been rescued and released into the North Sea after a controversial operation. After drifting in shallow waters for two weeks, Danish authorities pulled the carcass ashore.
The Danish Environmental Protection Agency announced plans to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death. This sequence of events followed the whale's initial strandings and rescue attempts along the Baltic coast, culminating in its recovery near Denmark.
