Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Settle 'It Ends With Us' Lawsuit
Actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have reached a settlement, ending their legal dispute over the 2024 film 'It Ends With Us'.
Actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have settled their legal dispute concerning the 2024 film "It Ends With Us," avoiding a trial that was scheduled to begin later this month. The terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.
In a joint statement, both parties expressed their commitment to supporting survivors and fostering respectful work environments. They acknowledged the challenges presented during the process and recognized that concerns raised by Ms. Lively deserved to be heard. They emphasized their dedication to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments, expressing hope that the settlement brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including fostering a respectful environment online.
The legal battle began in December 2024 when Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and fostering a hostile work environment during the production of "It Ends With Us." She alleged that Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, retaliated against her after she raised concerns about his alleged misconduct. Baldoni denied the allegations and filed a $400 million counter-defamation lawsuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, claiming they attempted to tarnish his reputation to seize control of the film. A judge dismissed Baldoni's lawsuit in June 2025.
In April 2026, a U.S. District Judge dismissed the majority of Lively's claims against Baldoni, including harassment, conspiracy, and defamation. Three claims—breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding and abetting in retaliation—remained ahead of the trial before the case was ultimately settled.
"It Ends With Us," based on Colleen Hoover's novel, was released in August 2024 and achieved box office success, though it faced criticism for its portrayal of abuse. The settlement concludes a legal saga that has captivated Hollywood and sparked extensive public debate.
