United Airlines Flight Hits Light Pole and Truck During Newark Landing
A United Airlines flight from Venice to Newark Liberty International Airport struck a light pole during its final approach and landed safely without injuries to passengers. The collision caused debris to hit a truck on the New Jersey Turnpike, resulting in minor injuries to the truck driver. Federal investigators later determined that the flight captain operated the aircraft at too low an altitude and too slow a speed before landing.
