Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has cautioned foreign representatives against attending Russia's upcoming Victory Day parade, citing ongoing hostilities and security risks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has advised foreign representatives against attending Russia's Victory Day parade in Moscow on May 9, citing ongoing hostilities and security concerns. In a video address, Zelenskyy stated, "There are also messages from some states close to Russia that their representatives intend to be in Moscow. An odd desire at a time like this. We do not recommend it."

Zelenskyy highlighted that Ukraine had proposed a ceasefire starting May 6, but Russia continued its attacks and issued new threats. He criticized Russia's unilateral ceasefire from May 8 to 10, suggesting it was intended solely to facilitate the parade. "The Russians are already talking about strikes after May 9. A strange and certainly twisted logic from the Russian leadership," he remarked.

In response to potential Ukrainian attacks, Russian authorities have announced heightened security measures for the parade. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that additional measures are necessary due to the "rather complex operational situation" and are aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens.

For the first time in nearly two decades, the parade will not feature the usual display of military equipment, with authorities citing the "current operational situation" as the reason for this omission.

The Russian Defense Ministry has urged residents and diplomats to leave Kyiv, warning of potential retaliatory strikes if Ukraine attacks during the unilateral ceasefire period.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian negotiator Rustem Umerov is scheduled to meet with U.S. counterparts in Miami to discuss reviving talks aimed at ending the conflict. Zelenskyy expressed hope for progress on humanitarian issues, including the release of prisoners, and the reinvigoration of the diplomatic process.
