Senate Republicans Passed Budget to Fund ICE and Border Patrol
Senate Republicans introduced a budget resolution proposing $70 billion over 3. 5 years to fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). They utilized the budget reconciliation process to bypass Democratic opposition and advance the plan. The resolution aimed to address the partial shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security.
Subsequently, the Senate passed the budget resolution, officially allocating funds to ICE and Border Patrol. This action was intended to reopen the Department of Homeland Security, which had been shut down since mid-February. The effort involved key Senate committees and leadership, reflecting a significant legislative move to resolve the funding impasse.
