Apple has promoted Johny Srouji to Chief Hardware Officer as John Ternus prepares to assume the role of CEO, marking a significant shift in the company's leadership structure.

Apple has announced the promotion of Johny Srouji to Chief Hardware Officer, effective immediately. Srouji, who previously served as Senior Vice President of Hardware Technologies, will now oversee both Hardware Engineering and the hardware technologies organization. This change comes as John Ternus prepares to succeed Tim Cook as CEO on September 1, 2026.

"Johny is one of the most talented people I have ever had the privilege to work with," said current CEO Tim Cook. "He has played a singular role in driving Apple's silicon strategy, and his influence has been felt deeply not just inside the company, but across the industry."

Srouji joined Apple in 2008 to lead the development of the A4, the company's first custom-designed system-on-a-chip. Prior to Apple, he held senior positions at Intel and IBM in processor development and design. He earned both bachelor's and master's degrees in Computer Science from Technion, Israel's Institute of Technology.

In his expanded role, Srouji will lead Apple's hardware engineering team, responsible for all hardware products, including product design, system engineering, and reliability testing.
