Family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez to Issue Statement Following Singer D4vd's Arrest
The family of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez plans to make their first public statement on Monday after the arrest of singer D4vd in connection with her death.
The family of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose decomposed body was discovered in singer D4vd's Tesla, will make their first public statement on Monday. This follows the recent arrest of D4vd, legally known as David Burke, in connection with her death.
An attorney representing the family stated that they intend to attend D4vd's arraignment if charges are filed, as well as the district attorney's press conference. The Los Angeles Police Department plans to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office on Monday for filing consideration. After the DA's press conference, the family will address the public through their attorney outside the courthouse.
The family's attorney emphasized their commitment to participating fully in the court proceedings. "The Rivas Hernandez family is committed to ensuring that Celeste's voice is heard and her memory is honored throughout this process," the attorney said in a statement.
D4vd, a 21-year-old singer who gained fame on TikTok, was arrested on Thursday in connection with the killing of Rivas Hernandez. He is currently being held without bail. In a statement, his attorneys maintained his innocence, asserting that the evidence will show he did not murder Rivas Hernandez and was not the cause of her death.
A memorial of pictures, candles, and flowers dedicated to Rivas Hernandez has been set up in front of her Lake Elsinore home. Neighbor Kayleigh Cortez, who initiated the memorial, expressed her hope for justice upon hearing of the arrest. "I was sitting down at my table, and I jumped up and I'm like, 'Let's go, let's get this justice,'" Cortez said.
Rivas Hernandez was reported missing in 2024. Her body was found in September 2025 in the trunk of a towed Tesla registered to D4vd. The vehicle had been impounded after being found abandoned on a Hollywood street. Officers responded to the impound lot due to a foul odor coming from the car. The teen may have been dead for several weeks before her body was discovered, police said. Her remains were found a day after her 15th birthday, according to her death certificate.
D4vd's arrest comes after months of compiling evidence. The grand jury that was empaneled didn't play much of a role in getting to this point, officials said. D4vd, who first went viral on TikTok, had been on his "Withered" world tour when the body was discovered in his vehicle. The last few shows of the tour, including those in San Francisco and Los Angeles, were canceled.
