Trump Faces Backlash Over AI-Generated Image Depicting Himself as Jesus

Resumen

President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated image portraying himself as a Jesus-like figure, leading to criticism from religious leaders and conservative supporters.

President Donald Trump shared an AI-generated image on Truth Social depicting himself in a Jesus-like manner, which has drawn significant criticism from religious leaders and conservative supporters. The image portrays Trump in a white robe and red sash, extending his hand toward a bedridden man, with light emanating from his fingers. Surrounding figures include a nurse, a soldier, and a praying woman, set against a backdrop featuring the U.S. flag, bald eagles, and national monuments.

The post, made on Orthodox Easter, followed Trump's criticism of Pope Leo XIV, whom he described as "weak on crime" and "terrible for foreign policy."

The image closely resembles one previously shared by conservative commentator Nick Adams, who had depicted Trump healing a "sick" America. In the version posted by Trump, a U.S. soldier in the background was replaced with a horned, winged creature.

The post has been met with backlash from various conservative figures. Riley Gaines, a conservative activist, questioned the intent behind the image, stating, "Is he looking for a response? Does he actually think this? Either way, two things are true. 1) a little humility would serve him well 2) God shall not be mocked."

Conservative commentator Megan Basham labeled the post as "outrageous blasphemy" and urged Trump to "take this down immediately and ask for forgiveness from the American people and then from God."

The White House has not issued an official response regarding the post.
