Resumen

European countries express strong disapproval of Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon, emphasizing the need to respect Lebanon's sovereignty and calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities.

European nations have strongly condemned Israel's recent airstrikes in Lebanon, urging an immediate halt to military operations and respect for Lebanon's sovereignty.

British Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper expressed deep concern over the escalating attacks, stating, "We do want to see the ceasefire extended to Lebanon." She highlighted the humanitarian consequences, including mass displacement, and emphasized the need to prevent regional destabilization.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot labeled the Israeli strikes as "unacceptable," asserting that they "undermine the temporary ceasefire reached yesterday between the United States and Iran."

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni criticized Israel for "disrespecting" the ceasefire with Iran by conducting the strikes. Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani condemned the bombings on the Lebanese civilian population and called for guarantees of total safety for UN peacekeeping troops.

The European Council reiterated its call for all parties to respect and implement the terms of the ceasefire agreement and to fully implement UNSCR 1701. It urged Israel to refrain from further escalation and to respect Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The United Nations also expressed deep concern over the escalation, urging all parties to exercise maximum restraint and to ensure the safety and security of UNIFIL personnel and premises in accordance with international law.

The Israeli military stated that the airstrikes targeted Hezbollah infrastructure, including command centers and military facilities. However, the attacks resulted in significant civilian casualties and widespread displacement, prompting international calls for de-escalation and adherence to international humanitarian law.
