Rory McIlroy secured his second consecutive Masters victory at Augusta National, finishing at 12-under par, one stroke ahead of Scottie Scheffler. This achievement places McIlroy alongside Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods as the only players to win back-to-back Masters titles.
McIlroy began the final round tied with Cameron Young at 11-under par. Despite an early double bogey on the par-3 4th hole, he regained composure, making crucial birdies on the back nine, including a significant one on the par-3 12th hole. McIlroy's final round score of 71 secured his victory.
Scottie Scheffler, the world's top-ranked player, delivered a bogey-free weekend with rounds of 65 and 68, finishing at 11-under par. His performance marked the first bogey-free final 36 holes at the Masters since 1942.
The 2026 Masters featured a record prize purse of $22.5 million, with McIlroy earning $4.5 million for his victory. The tournament also saw notable performances from Justin Rose and Cameron Young, who tied for third place at 10-under par.
Reflecting on his win, McIlroy stated, "I thought it was so difficult to win last year because of trying to win the Masters and the Grand Slam, and then this year I realized it's just really difficult to win the Masters."
