SoftBank and DOE Developed Massive AI Data Center in Ohio
The U. S. Department of Energy partnered with SoftBank Group and AEP Ohio to develop a 10-gigawatt data center and power complex at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant, a former uranium enrichment site in southern Ohio.
This collaboration aimed to create a significant infrastructure project focused on artificial intelligence technologies. Later, SoftBank announced plans to invest $500 billion to build the AI data center complex, which was set to become the largest construction project in the United States. This development marked a major step in expanding AI infrastructure and energy capacity in Pike County, Ohio, involving key stakeholders such as SB Energy and AEP Ohio.
