Prince Harry Testifies Against Daily Mail Publisher Over Alleged Unlawful Information Gathering
Prince Harry provided emotional testimony in London's High Court, accusing Associated Newspapers Limited of unlawful information gathering that caused distress to his family.
Prince Harry delivered emotional testimony in London's High Court, accusing Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, of unlawful information gathering that caused significant distress to his family.
The Duke of Sussex, 41, is among seven high-profile figures—including Elton John, Elizabeth Hurley, and Doreen Lawrence—alleging that ANL engaged in illicit practices such as phone tapping, voicemail interception, and obtaining private records through deception.
In his witness statement, Prince Harry expressed that the alleged intrusion was "terrifying" for his loved ones and placed a "massive strain" on his personal relationships. He described the experience as driving him "paranoid beyond belief, isolating me."
ANL has denied the allegations, asserting that its journalists used legitimate sources and that the claims were brought too late.
The trial is expected to last nine weeks, marking Prince Harry's second court testimony in three years. In 2023, he became the first senior British royal in over a century to testify in court.
As proceedings concluded, Prince Harry became visibly emotional, stating that by taking a stand, "they have made my wife's life an absolute misery."
