A significant winter storm is set to impact over 160 million Americans across more than two dozen states this weekend, bringing heavy snow, ice, and frigid temperatures. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued winter storm warnings and watches from the southern Rockies to New England, with snowfall totals exceeding 12 inches expected in the Ohio Valley, mid-Atlantic, and Northeast regions.

The NWS has warned of "widespread freezing rain and sleet" across parts of the southern plains, lower Mississippi Valley, Tennessee Valley, Southeast, and southern Virginia, with significant ice accumulations likely leading to power outages, tree damage, and hazardous travel conditions.
