Crimson Desert Launches with 2 Million Sales Amid Mixed Reviews
Pearl Abyss announced the upcoming release of Crimson Desert, highlighting its vast open world larger than Skyrim and Red Dead Redemption 2. The company then revealed system requirements and pre-order details, leading to nearly 400,000 pre-launch sales on Steam and generating over $20 million in revenue. Upon release, Crimson Desert sold over 2 million copies within the first 24 hours.
However, the game received mixed feedback from players and critics, which coincided with a significant drop in Pearl Abyss's share price. Despite the mixed reviews, the launch marked a major commercial success for the developer.
