Valve Unveils Steam Machine Console and Steam Frame VR Headset
Valve has announced the Steam Machine, a new console designed for living room gaming, and the Steam Frame, a wireless VR headset, both set for early 2026 release.
Valve has introduced the Steam Machine, a compact console aimed at bringing PC gaming to the living room. The device, measuring approximately six inches on each side, is powered by a semi-custom AMD Zen 4 processor and RDNA 3 GPU, enabling 4K gaming at 60 frames per second. It runs on SteamOS and offers storage options of 512GB and 2TB, expandable via microSD. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and multiple USB ports. An LED strip on the front panel indicates system status.
Alongside the Steam Machine, Valve unveiled the Steam Frame, a wireless virtual reality headset that operates independently with its own processing capabilities. The headset runs on SteamOS and supports streaming from users' Steam libraries.
Valve also introduced a new Steam Controller, featuring magnetic thumbsticks, trackpads, a gyroscope, and additional grip buttons. The controller is compatible with the Steam Machine, PCs, and laptops.
Gabe Newell, president of Valve, stated, "We've been super happy with the success of Steam Deck, and PC gamers have continued asking for even more ways to play all the great titles in their Steam libraries."
All three devices are slated for release in early 2026, with pricing details to be announced closer to launch.
