Dodgers Advance to NLCS After Extra-Inning Victory Over Phillies

Summary

The Los Angeles Dodgers secured a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in 11 innings, clinching the NL Division Series 3-1 and advancing to the NL Championship Series.

The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched the National League Division Series with a 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in 11 innings on Thursday. The win secured the Dodgers' spot in the NL Championship Series.

The game remained scoreless until the seventh inning when Nick Castellanos' RBI double off Emmet Sheehan gave the Phillies a 1-0 lead. In the bottom half, Jhoan Duran walked Mookie Betts with the bases loaded, forcing in the tying run.

In the 11th inning, Tommy Edman singled off Jesús Luzardo and advanced to third on Max Muncy's two-out single. Phillies reliever Orion Kerkering then walked Kiké Hernández, loading the bases. Andy Pages hit a comebacker that Kerkering mishandled. Instead of throwing to first base, Kerkering's errant throw to home plate allowed pinch-runner Hyeseong Kim to score the winning run.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson consoled Kerkering in the dugout after the game-ending error. The Dodgers will face either the Chicago Cubs or the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS.
