Prosecutors Recommend 11-Year Sentence for Sean 'Diddy' Combs

Summary

Federal prosecutors have recommended an 11-year prison sentence for Sean 'Diddy' Combs following his conviction on charges related to transportation for prostitution.

Federal prosecutors have recommended that Sean "Diddy" Combs receive a prison sentence of 11 years and three months, along with a $500,000 fine, following his conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

In July, a federal jury found Combs guilty of these charges, each carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years. He was acquitted of more serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.

Prosecutors emphasized the severity of Combs' actions, stating that his crimes have warranted sentences over 10 years in multiple cases for defendants who engaged in violence and instilled fear in others. They also noted that Combs has shown no remorse for his actions.

During the trial, the prosecution alleged that Combs used his influence, wealth, and threats to coerce former girlfriends into participating in drug-fueled sexual encounters with male escorts, which he orchestrated and sometimes filmed. The defense acknowledged past instances of domestic violence but maintained that all sexual activities were consensual.

Combs has been detained in a Brooklyn federal jail since his arrest in September 2024. His attorneys have requested a sentence of no more than 14 months, which, accounting for time already served, could lead to his release in a matter of months. They described his time behind bars as "life-changing" and noted his efforts toward rehabilitation, including overcoming substance abuse.

The U.S. Probation Department has recommended a sentence ranging between five and seven years.

Singer Cassie Ventura, a former girlfriend and key witness, testified about a decade-long relationship marked by physical and emotional abuse. She expressed concerns for her safety if Combs were to be released, stating that she still experiences nightmares and flashbacks and continues to require psychological care.

Combs' sentencing is scheduled for October 3, 2025.
