Kyler Murray was removed from the game early Sunday due to a concussion and will follow the league's protocol, while backup Carson Wentz is expected to start the next game.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray was taken out of Sunday’s matchup during the team’s third offensive series after sustaining a head injury. Head coach Kevin O’Connell said at a Monday press conference that Murray has entered the NFL’s concussion protocol and reported feeling “pretty good” on Monday. O’Connell added that the team will proceed “a day at a time” with medical staff as Murray recovers.

Carson Wentz stepped in for Murray and helped the Vikings rally to defeat the Green Bay Packers. If Murray does not clear the protocol before the upcoming game against the Chicago Bears in Week 2, Wentz is slated to start. Further updates on Murray’s status are expected once the Vikings resume practice later this week.
