Investigation into Hayden Panettiere's Death Expands to Multiple States

Resumen

Authorities are probing the source of prescription drugs linked to actress Hayden Panettiere's fatal overdose, with investigations underway in both California and South Carolina.

Law enforcement agencies are conducting a multi-state investigation into the death of actress Hayden Panettiere, who was found unresponsive in a South Carolina apartment on Aug. 16 at age 36. The Greenville County Coroner's Office said resuscitation attempts failed and the autopsy, completed on Aug. 17, showed no trauma that could have contributed to her death.

Investigators are focusing on the type and origin of prescription medications found at the scene. Reports indicate Panettiere may have obtained several prescription drugs, including oxycodone, from a long-standing supplier in Los Angeles and that a dose taken on a flight to South Carolina could have been contaminated with fentanyl.

"The investigation has become a cross-country effort, with authorities in Los Angeles and South Carolina coordinating to trace the drugs and their source," a spokesperson for ABC News said.

The case remains under active investigation as officials work to determine the precise circumstances surrounding the overdose.
