Trump says he will not intervene in Lindsay Clancy murder case

Résumé

President Donald Trump indicated he will not seek a pardon or otherwise intervene in the Massachusetts case of Lindsay Clancy, who faces murder charges for the deaths of her three children.

President Donald Trump told reporters on Sunday that he will not intervene in the criminal case against Lindsay Clancy, a former nurse charged with three counts of first-degree murder for the 2023 deaths of her children in Massachusetts. Trump described the situation as "very sad" and emphasized that it is a state matter, not a federal one.

When asked about a possible pardon, Trump said, "There’s no winner there. There’s no win no matter what you do. Three children are dead," and added that the defense and prosecution must resolve the case locally. He praised Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, noting, "He’s a good attorney. I’ve heard from other people he’s a very good attorney. I hope they can work it out. That’s something they have to work out … There is no win there."

Trump also remarked that Clancy will ultimately face consequences, suggesting she could be committed to a mental institution or face jail time. Clancy, 36, is alleged to have suffered from postpartum psychosis, a rare psychiatric condition, and faces a potential retrial after a mistrial was declared when the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict.

The case remains pending in Massachusetts state court.
