Actor Alan Ritchson's divorce filing dates back to December 2025, court records show

Alan Ritchson, 43, confirmed over the weekend that his marriage to Catherine Ritchson, which began in 2003, has ended. The couple, who met in a high-school ballet class in Florida and share three sons, made the announcement on Instagram on September 12.

Court documents obtained by multiple outlets indicate that Ritchson filed for divorce on December 1, 2025, nearly a year before the public statement. The filings show a brief reconciliation attempt in March 2026, after which the parties proceeded with the dissolution.

The family’s last joint public appearance was at the New York City premiere of Ritchson’s film Motor City in July 2026, where they attended with their three children.

"After 20 years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way," the couple wrote in their joint Instagram post. "We grew up together, we built a life and a family together. We are raising three incredible boys, who will always be the center of our world. The best gift we can give one another — and our boys — right now is friendship, grace and commitment to becoming the strongest coparents we can be."

Ritchson had previously marked their 19th wedding anniversary in May 2025 with a tribute to his wife, but did not post a similar message for their 20th anniversary in May 2026.
