Meghan Markle posts video showing family activities after returning to the UK

Summary

The Duchess of Sussex shared Instagram footage of her family enjoying countryside outings since their recent move back to Britain, while the palace confirmed their non-working royal status remains unchanged.

Meghan Markle posted a short montage on Instagram that shows her, Prince Harry, and their children, Lilibet and Archie, spending time together in the English countryside. The clips, set to the 1984 song "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," include scenes of the family walking their dog, Harry fishing from a boat with the children, and the kids playing near a fireplace. One segment shows Lilibet on a baby bike seat while Archie runs alongside her.

The video was uploaded around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, and includes an overlay of a Union Flag and a heart emoji.

The Sussexes, who stepped down from senior royal duties in early 2020 and lived in California for six years, returned to the United Kingdom in late August with plans to reside there permanently and enroll their children in British schools. Although relations with the royal household have been reported as strained, the King has continued to receive visits from the family, including a July trip when the Duke met him while undergoing cancer treatment.

A recent statement from the palace, issued by senior official Richard Benyon, reiterated that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain "no longer working Members of The Royal Family" and that their royal styles are "in abeyance and are not used." The notice clarified that any charitable activities they pursue are undertaken in a private capacity, effectively describing their current position as that of private citizens with personal commercial and charitable interests.
