Powerball jackpot climbs to $232 million for Saturday draw

Resumen

The Powerball jackpot has risen to an estimated $232 million after Wednesday's drawing failed to produce a winner, with the next drawing set for Saturday, Sept. 12.

The Powerball jackpot increased to an estimated $232 million, with a cash option of $98.6 million, after no ticket matched all six numbers in Wednesday's draw. The next drawing is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12, at approximately 10:59 p.m. ET.

The winning numbers for the Sept. 12 draw are 14-16-23-58-69, with the Powerball number 3 and a Power Play multiplier of 2X. Subsequent drawings will continue on Monday, Sept. 14, and then follow the regular Monday, Wednesday and Saturday schedule.

Tickets cost $2 and are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Players choose five numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26; an optional Power Play add-on costs $1. Anyone who meets the legal age requirement in the purchase jurisdiction may play, regardless of citizenship.

"The jackpot has been growing since an Illinois ticket won a $1.04 billion prize on Aug. 12, ending one of the game’s longest runs without a winner," the article notes.

The $232 million prize follows a series of rollovers that began after the August jackpot, and it joins a list of past Powerball jackpots that have exceeded $1 billion.
