Quarterback Arch Manning led Texas to a 24-23 victory over No. 1 Ohio State after trailing by 20 points in the fourth quarter, marking the biggest fourth-quarter comeback against a top-ranked team.

Texas overcame a 20-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat No. 1 Ohio State 24-23 on Saturday night, completing the largest fourth-quarter rally to topple an AP No. 1 opponent, according to Sportradar. Quarterback Arch Manning threw a touchdown pass to Ryan Wingo and added 196 passing yards on 23 of 37 attempts, finishing with one touchdown. After falling behind 23-3, Manning completed 11 of his final 15 passes and directed three scoring drives, two of which ended with short runs by Hollywood Smothers, the last with 25 seconds left.

"His grit started it," Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said. "Last September was a hard month for him. I think him getting through the adversity of last year helped him get through the adversity of tonight. When he comes back, everybody else comes back. That's a guy who has some grit, some resilience," Sarkisian added. "It was a weird start. I'm really proud of the way we responded. We could have let that thing go. It's a testament to our coaches and our culture," Manning said. "We just had to get something going. I always knew we were going to be in it in the end. I'm so glad we won," he added. The win improves Texas' standing in the national championship race and showcases Manning's development after a challenging first season as the full-time starter.
