NeNe Leakes says Kim Zolciak is struggling as son faces felony charges
NeNe Leakes told a radio show that former "Real Housewives of Atlanta" co-star Kim Zolciak is coping with the indictment of her 15-year-old son on multiple sexual assault charges.
NeNe Leakes said on Friday’s “The Big Tigger Morning Show” that she had contacted former "Real Housewives of Atlanta" alum Kim Zolciak to check on her wellbeing after Zolciak’s son, KJ Biermann Jr., was indicted on several felony sexual-assault charges. Leakes, 58, said she reached out last week and “wanted to know how she was doing … and made sure she was OK with what her son is dealing with,” adding that she knows “she’s not OK.”
KJ Biermann, 15, was arrested on Aug. 21 on charges that include aggravated sexual battery, sodomy, child molestation and false imprisonment. The indictment, issued by a Georgia grand jury on Sept. 3, lists seven felony counts, among them aggravated sexual battery against a child under 16. The charges stem from an alleged assault on a female classmate in a co-ed sauna at a Life Time fitness center in Alpharetta, Georgia, in April, and investigators also allege possession of videos showing sexual activity with an underage relative.
Zolciak, who appeared at a Fulton County Superior Court bond hearing for her son on Friday, was observed sitting beside her daughter Brielle with a neutral expression. In a statement provided to the media, Zolciak’s representative said the teen “categorically denies ever being involved with this woman or engaging in the conduct she has alleged.”
Leakes, who returned to the “Real Housewives” franchise for a cameo in the “Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th” special, previously filed a lawsuit in April 2022 alleging a hostile work environment on the show, but dismissed the case in August without prejudice.
