Alan Ritchson and his wife Catherine announced on Saturday that they are ending their marriage after twenty years together. In a joint Instagram statement, the couple said their three sons will remain the priority and that they intend to continue as friends and co-parents.
"After twenty years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way," the post read. "We grew up together. We built a life and a family together. And we are raising three incredible boys who will always be the center of our world."
The statement added that the couple hopes to give each other space to grow and asked for privacy while they navigate the transition. A representative for Ritchson declined further comment.
Ritchson previously recounted meeting Catherine in high school while both were taking classes at a state college, noting that he was initially hesitant to speak to her. He said they later performed in a play together, dated, and remained friends after an early separation before reuniting and marrying in 2006.
