In a ten-round fight at the T-Mobile Arena, Juan Cortes outpointed John Magsayo, winning on the judges' scorecards despite several knockdown controversies.

Juan Cortes secured a unanimous decision over John Magsayo in a ten-round contest at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The judges scored the bout 97-93, 97-93 and 97-93 in favor of Cortes, who dominated the later rounds with aggressive inside work and a series of power punches.

Cortes opened the fight by breaking Magsayo’s guard with a left jab and followed with a lead hook that set the tone for the match. Throughout the middle rounds, Cortes repeatedly pressured Magsayo on the inside, landing combinations of rights and hooks that forced Magsayo to retreat to the canvas on several occasions. While the referee did not officially call any knockdowns, Magsayo was knocked down multiple times in the fifth and sixth rounds, prompting boos from the crowd.

Magsayo attempted to close the distance early in each round, but his attacks were largely blocked or countered by Cortes. The latter’s superior physicality and effective body work allowed him to control the pace, especially in the championship rounds where he landed decisive right hands that further widened the point gap.

The fight opened after a 45-minute delay caused by a preceding UFC event, leaving the arena sparsely populated. Despite the low attendance, the bout proceeded without incident, and Cortes emerged as the clear victor on the scorecards.
