A juvenile court ordered a 15-year-old girl to remain in custody after she was charged with first-degree murder for pushing a 29-year-old man off a CTA Red Line train, causing his death.

Chicago police arrested a 15-year-old girl on Friday and charged her with first-degree murder, mob action, murder by other forcible felony and aggravated battery to a transit employee after she allegedly pushed a 29-year-old man from a moving CTA Red Line train on Labor Day. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. near 69th Street, and the victim, identified as Kyle Bickham, died after falling onto the electrified third rail and being struck by another train. The death was ruled a homicide.

A juvenile court hearing on Saturday found probable cause on all counts and ordered the girl to be held in custody. She is scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 14.

Bickham’s family, who said he was returning home from an Amazon warehouse job in Cicero, announced plans for a press conference and asked the public for information about the incident. Police indicated that three individuals may have been involved in pushing the victim, but no additional arrests have been made.

The case arises as the newly formed Northern Illinois Transit Authority assumes control of CTA, Metra and Pace services, highlighting ongoing safety concerns for riders.
