Pink condemns Macklemore's pro-Palestinian remarks at MetLife Stadium

Resumen

Singer Pink criticized rapper Macklemore for performing a pro-Palestinian song at a September 4 concert, stating her Jewish identity and calling for respect for all civilians affected by the Gaza conflict.

Singer Pink issued a statement on Instagram on Sept. 11 after rapper Macklemore performed his song "Hind's Hall" and repeatedly chanted "Free Palestine" during a concert opening for Ed Sheeran at MetLife Stadium. The performance featured a slideshow of Gaza war footage, prompting criticism from an anti-antisemitism Instagram page, which Pink reposted.

In her post, Pink said she had remained silent for a week but felt compelled to speak, emphasizing that she was born Jewish and does not represent Israel or any government. She reiterated her view that Hamas is a terrorist organization, that Palestinians deserve a future that respects their humanity, and that protecting innocent lives is paramount.

Pink also referenced Macklemore's past support for LGBTQ rights, noting his 2014 Grammy performance of "Same Love," but criticized a later costume she interpreted as an antisemitic stereotype. She said the recent concert "scared" her and her family and demanded the right to express that fear without being labeled propaganda.

"I’d rather be disagreed with for what I actually said than hated for what anybody else wrote," Pink wrote.

She concluded by urging listeners to ask her directly about her views and wished a happy Rosh Hashanah.

Macklemore later posted a video explaining that his appearance with Sheeran was partly to voice support for a Palestinian cause to a large audience.
