Teen son of reality TV star faces additional sexual battery charge after alleged video evidence found

Résumé

Prosecutors say investigators discovered videos on the teen's phone that allegedly show sexual activity with a family member under 12, adding a new charge to the case already involving a classmate.

A Fulton County Superior Court hearing on Friday addressed a new sexual battery charge against KJ Biermann, 15, the son of former "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Kim Zolciak. Deputy District Attorney Caitlin McGillicuddy said investigators recovered multiple videos from Biermann's cellphone that purportedly depict penetrative sex with a relative younger than 12 and include what she described as "predatory, derogatory" language.

McGillicuddy noted the new allegation marks a second serious sexual offense involving a female victim for the teen, who is already charged with aggravated sodomy and aggravated sexual battery stemming from an April incident with a classmate. She also said the earlier victim suffered documented physical injury and that the case involves threats to her safety.

Judge Melynee Leftridge has not yet ruled on bond, with a decision expected by Monday. Defense attorney Jason Sheffield, who declined to comment on the newly revealed evidence, reiterated his client’s claim of innocence and requested a $65,000 bond, citing the teen’s academic and athletic record. The prosecutor suggested a bond of $190,000.

Biermann remains detained at the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center. His parents and sister attended the hearing, while his father appeared separately. The case, which includes seven felony counts such as aggravated child molestation and false imprisonment, is scheduled for arraignment on Oct. 14.
