Google-linked Wearable Device Files FCC Registration, Details Suggest Wear OS Capability

Resumen

A new wearable registered with the FCC by Weifang Goertek Electronics, a supplier for Google, appears to run Wear OS and includes Bluetooth and GPS but lacks Wi-Fi, prompting speculation about its market role.

A regulatory filing submitted to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission reveals a new wearable device labeled “Wireless Device” with the model number G8BL6. The filing lists Weifang Goertek Electronics Co. as the manufacturer, a company that previously produced the Fitbit Air for Google.

The device’s regulatory information can be accessed through the same menu path used on Wear OS products—Settings > System > Regulatory Information—indicating it likely includes a display and runs Google’s Wear OS platform. Unlike typical smartwatches, the filing notes the absence of Wi-Fi connectivity, while confirming the presence of Bluetooth and GPS functions.

Analysts note that the device’s form factor resembles marketing images released alongside the Pixel 11 series and Pixel Watch 5, which showed a slimmer, fitness-tracker-style wearable. Given the manufacturer’s history with Fitbit hardware, some observers suggest the product could be a new Fitbit model rather than a Pixel-branded watch.

"The device appears to follow Wear OS navigation for regulatory data, which implies a screen and compatible software," a spokesperson for a technology-tracking site said.

No official comment from Google has been provided regarding the device’s intended branding or launch timeline.
