Netflix cancels Texas drama "Ransom Canyon" after two seasons

Resumen

Netflix announced that the romantic drama series "Ransom Canyon" will not return for a third season, ending the show after its second installment.

Netflix confirmed that the Texas-set drama "Ransom Canyon" will not be renewed for a third season, concluding the series after its eight-episode second season, which debuted on July 23. The show, created by April Blair, followed three ranching families in a small Texas town as they navigated land disputes and personal relationships. The cast featured Josh Duhamel, Minka Kelly, Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing and several others.

The series' official description highlighted the setting in Texas Hill Country and the intertwined lives of the characters, noting that season two continued the story six months after the first season's events, focusing on Duhamel's character Staten Kirkland's efforts to regain control of his family ranch and Kelly's character Quinn O’Grady's choice between staying in the town or pursuing a career in New York City.

The cancellation also affects the local New Mexico economy, where the production employed more than 700 residents during season two, including crew members, principal actors and background talent. Steve Graham, director of the New Mexico Film Office, previously praised the partnership with Netflix, saying the state's skilled workforce and diverse locations make it an attractive location for long-term series production.
