Boyfriend of late actress meets DEA as death investigation continues
Brian Hickerson, boyfriend of the deceased actress, has spoken with DEA investigators while authorities await toxicology results and continue to search for a possible drug supplier.
Brian Hickerson, 37, met with federal drug-enforcement officials on Thursday, according to sources cited by a media report. Investigators are focusing on identifying a potential supplier of substances that may have contributed to the actress' death, and have not made any arrests.
The actress was found unresponsive at a short-term rental in Greenville, South Carolina, on August 16 and was pronounced dead after emergency responders were unable to revive her. She was 36 and left an 11-year-old daughter.
Hickerson's brother, Zach, said he arrived at the residence after failing to reach the couple for a planned lunch. He reported that he and his brother attempted CPR and administered Narcan before emergency services arrived. Earlier statements from Zach differed on the exact circumstances, and he cautioned against speculation pending the investigation's findings.
The actress' mother, Lesley Vogel, has expressed doubts about Hickerson's account and raised concerns with law enforcement, questioning how a person could be unaware of a medical emergency nearby.
Hickerson has not spoken publicly since the death. His attorney, Sloan Ellis, said the case remains under investigation, that police have found no signs of foul play, and that no further comment will be made out of respect for the family.
Authorities have not publicly identified a suspected dealer, and the investigation remains ongoing.
