Meta's Muse AI app ranks second on U.S. App Store after launch

Resumen

Meta's new AI agent app Muse has been downloaded over 83,000 times on iOS in the United States, reaching the No. 2 spot on the App Store, though its launch pace trails earlier Meta releases and competitor ChatGPT.

Meta's AI agent app Muse has climbed to the No. 2 position on the U.S. App Store after being downloaded more than 83,000 times on iOS, according to market-intelligence firm Sensor Tower. The app, which is currently available only in the United States, follows a slower start compared with Meta's previous launches; Threads recorded over 4.3 million U.S. downloads on its first day and the Meta AI app logged 108,000 downloads at debut. By contrast, OpenAI's ChatGPT reached half a million U.S. installs within a week, averaging about 83,300 daily downloads.

Muse's rise on iOS came after moving from fourth to second place on the chart, but its Android version lags, sitting at No. 338 in Google Play's Productivity category, with download figures not yet disclosed. The service is also accessible via web and WhatsApp, which are not reflected in the current estimates.

Industry observers note that Muse represents a significant bet by Meta on consumer-facing, task-oriented AI agents, a market also pursued by rivals such as Google’s Gemini Spark, Anthropic’s Claude Cowork, and the Instinct agent. Instinct, valued at $2.5 billion, has recently added features including email addresses for users and integrations with Stripe and 1Password.

"We believe agents that work to get things done on people's behalf will be the future of consumer AI," a Meta spokesperson said.

The early performance of Muse will be monitored as the company seeks to establish a foothold in the emerging agentic AI sector.
