Robert Pattinson Discusses Nerves and Production Role Ahead of "Primetime" Premiere

Resumen

Robert Pattinson said he felt intense anxiety before the world premiere of "Primetime" at Venice, but the film’s positive reception eased his concerns and highlighted his new responsibilities as a producer.

Robert Pattinson admitted he was extremely nervous before the world premiere of the film "Primetime" at the Venice Film Festival, saying he felt sick and feared the role might be a mistake. He described the anxiety as part of the excitement of taking on a high-risk, high-reward project.

During a round-table interview at the festival, Pattinson explained that portraying "To Catch a Predator" host Chris Hansen required him to balance satire with the serious subject matter of the original show. He noted that the character’s attempts to promote the program on late-night television highlighted the tension between entertainment and ethical concerns.

Pattinson also spoke about his expanded duties as a producer on the film, describing it as the most work he had done to date. He said the experience gave him a stronger sense of ownership and a broader perspective on the industry, noting that he made frequent calls and coordinated with director Lance Oppenheim even as Oppenheim’s wife was in labor.

The actor said he plans to continue producing to secure future opportunities, emphasizing a work ethic that he intends to maintain beyond his 40th birthday. He added that "Primetime" was designed to avoid a didactic tone, instead presenting the dilemma of a successful, controversial show without passing judgment.

"Part of me knows it’s high risk, high reward," Pattinson said.

"When you watch the first episode, it’s really just addressing a serious issue and warning people about what’s happening," he explained.

"If you find an audience and want to keep them, you have to change," he concluded.

The film received a warm reception at Venice, and Pattinson remained in the city for promotional events after the premiere.
