Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood comments on coach's remarks about starting role
Michigan QB Bryce Underwood downplayed coach Kyle Whittingham's comments that his starting position is not guaranteed after a shaky Week 1 performance.
Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood faced questions about head coach Kyle Whittingham's remarks that his role as starter is not permanent following a narrow win over Western Michigan. Underwood completed 11 of 21 passes for 127 yards and added a rushing touchdown, but his overall play drew criticism from Whittingham, who said, "He's our QB right now. It's not something that's infinite. At some point, we've got to turn a corner, and we've got to see improvement."
When asked about the coach's comments, Underwood responded that he was unaware of them, stating, "That's cool. I didn't see that. It's cool." The team prepares for its next game against Oklahoma the following weekend.
