Justine Musk discusses marriage to Elon Musk in new documentary

摘要

In a four-hour documentary premiering at the Venice Film Festival, Elon Musk's ex-wife Justine Musk recounts her experiences during their eight-year marriage, including claims of emotional abuse and family disputes.

Justine Musk, a Canadian author, appeared in the four-hour documentary "Musk," directed by Alex Gibney and shown at the Venice Film Festival on Tuesday. She described feeling "insignificant" and being spoken to as if she were an employee during her eight-year marriage to Elon Musk.

"I learned the term ‘gaslighting’ through my relationship with Elon. He was constantly remarking on the ways he found me lacking," she said.

Musk also challenged Elon Musk's previous statement that he held their first son, Nevada, as he died of sudden infant death syndrome, asserting that she was the one who held the child at the time of his death.

"I held him in my arms when he died," she said, referencing a 2010 essay in which she described the infant's three days on life support before they decided to withdraw care.

The documentary also touches on the couple's other children, noting that their daughter Vivian was cut off from health insurance after she came out as transgender. Justine said Musk has not attempted to reconcile with Vivian since then.

"It’s not in his nature," she added, while noting that Musk reportedly told her to convey to Vivian, "I’ll always love her."

Other interviewees in the film include former partner Ashley St. Clair, Musk's father Errol, and Tesla co-founder Martin Eberhard. Elon Musk responded on the social platform X, calling the film a "hit piece" and criticizing director Alex Gibney's integrity.

"Gibney just assembled a hit list of people who either have an axe to grind or don’t even know me (but still have an axe to grind)," Musk wrote. "It’s a hit piece that misses, and makes the fatal sin of being boring for 4 hours," he added.
