Apple to Release iOS 27 with New Siri AI on September 14
Apple announced that iOS 27, iPadOS 27, watchOS 27 and macOS 27 will launch on September 14, featuring the debut of Siri AI, which is limited to newer devices.
Apple said its next-generation operating systems will become available on Monday, September 14. The rollout includes iOS 27, iPadOS 27, watchOS 27 and macOS 27, all of which introduce a revamped Siri AI assistant. Apple disclosed that the new assistant was trained using Google’s Gemini models.
"Siri AI is the headline feature of iOS 27," an Apple spokesperson said.
The company noted that Siri AI will run only on iPhone models released from 2023 onward, starting with the iPhone 15 Pro and newer, and that the latest iPhone 17 series will benefit from an on-device model that improves speech recognition and dictation. iPad support is limited to the most recent iPad mini, iPad Air and iPad Pro devices equipped with an M1 chip or later.
In addition to the digital assistant, iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 bring design refinements to Apple’s Liquid Glass aesthetic and new child-safety tools, while Apple promises overall performance gains. macOS 27, dubbed "Golden Gate," also integrates Siri AI into Spotlight and adds uniform toolbars, edge-to-edge sidebars and updated window and menu bar icons.
