ABC denies rumors of cancelling Jimmy Kimmel Live

Résumé

ABC said reports that it plans to end "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" after its current season are inaccurate, calling the speculation unfounded.

ABC Entertainment issued a statement to refute media reports that the network intends to cancel "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" at the end of its 24th season. "This information is inaccurate — any reports about the future of the show at this point are purely speculative," the spokesperson told Us Weekly.

The clarification follows coverage suggesting the late-night program would wrap after its current season, which began on Tuesday. Sources have indicated that host Jimmy Kimmel, who works under a year-to-year contract, is exploring additional projects such as a podcast.

Kimmel's wife, Molly McNearney, discussed his possible retirement during an appearance on Dax Shepard’s "Armchair Expert," saying she sees both a desire for him to relax and a commitment to continue his work, which she described as "incredibly important right now."

The show, which premiered in January 2003 and has produced roughly 4,000 episodes, was temporarily removed from the schedule last year after Kimmel made remarks about the killing of political activist Charlie Kirk. After a brief hiatus, Kimmel returned and expressed regret for his comments, stating it was never his intention to make light of the incident.
