Gonzalez, the No. 17 overall pick in the 2023 draft, had been in contract negotiations throughout the offseason, raising questions about his availability for the team's season opener against Seattle. With the deal completed, he is expected to be active for the game.
The 24-year-old was named a second-team AP All-Pro in 2024 and earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2025. He recorded 10 passes defensed in 14 regular-season games last year and added seven passes defensed, a forced fumble and an interception in the Patriots' four postseason contests.
