Second Participant Dies at Nevada's Burning Man Festival

सारांश

A 60-year-old man was found dead at Burning Man, marking the second fatality at the event this week, while authorities say no foul play is suspected.

Burning Man organizers confirmed that Craigh Mann, 60, was discovered deceased by fellow campers on Saturday at the annual gathering in Black Rock City, Nevada. No cause of death has been released, and officials said there is no indication of foul play.

The death follows an earlier incident in which a man in his mid-50s died after a medical emergency on Thursday. He was treated on site before being pronounced dead at the festival’s medical center, but his name and cause of death have not been disclosed pending family notification.

Pershing County Sheriff Coroner Jerry Allen told reporters that deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive individual on a festival street and are awaiting a medical examiner’s report. The festival, which draws tens of thousands of attendees, operates its own on-site healthcare facility that treated 1,450 patients in 2025.

The only other fatality on record at Burning Man occurred in 2024, when a participant was stabbed to death in a tent. This year marks the event’s 40th anniversary and runs until Monday after the planned temple burn.
