Two men, one identified as 60-year-old Craigh Mann, died during the Burning Man event in Nevada, with one death reported on Friday and the second on Saturday.

Two participants died within roughly a day at the Burning Man festival in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, officials said. The second death involved 60-year-old Craigh Mann, whose campmates found him on Saturday afternoon, September 5, at about 3 p.m. The festival’s organizing body, the Burning Man Project, expressed condolences to Mann’s family, friends and fellow campers.

The first death, reported on Friday, concerned a man in his mid-50s who suffered a medical emergency, received emergency care at the event’s onsite medical center and was later pronounced dead. His name was not released pending family notification.

Organizers emphasized that safety and well-being remain a top priority and noted that support resources are available around the clock for attendees in the temporary city of Black Rock City. The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office had not responded to requests for comment. The annual event, which began Aug. 30 and runs for about a week, typically draws up to 80,000 participants.
