Second Death Reported at Nevada's Burning Man Festival

Resumen

A 60-year-old man was found dead at his camp during Burning Man, marking the second fatality at the event this week, while authorities say no foul play is suspected.

Festival organizers said 60-year-old Craigh Mann was discovered deceased by fellow camp members on Saturday afternoon at Burning Man in Black Rock City, Nevada. No cause of death has been released, and officials have not indicated any criminal involvement.

"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the participant's family, friends, campmates, and all those affected by this loss," the organizers wrote.

The incident follows the death of a man in his mid-50s two days earlier, who suffered a medical emergency, received emergency care on site and was later pronounced dead at the festival's medical center. His name and cause of death have not been disclosed pending family notification.

Pershing County Sheriff Coroner Jerry Allen told a local newspaper that deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive individual on a festival street, and that the death appears to be non-violent while awaiting a medical examiner's report.

Burning Man, now in its 40th year, attracts tens of thousands of participants to the Black Rock Desert for a week of art, music and self-expression. The event operates its own on-site healthcare facility, which treated 1,450 patients in 2025. Last year the festival recorded its first homicide, a stabbing of a 37-year-old Russian man.

Co-founder John Law has recently criticized the festival, saying it has become a commercialized escape for wealthy attendees, a comment that reflects internal debate over the event's direction.
