Bank of America Vice President Erin Piacenti Fatally Stabbed in Times Square
Erin Piacenti, a 32-year-old vice president at Bank of America, was killed in an unprovoked stabbing in Times Square; a suspect was shot dead by police and a GoFundMe for her daughter has raised over $800,000.
Bank of America vice president Erin Piacenti, 32, was fatally stabbed on Monday afternoon in Times Square, police said the attack was unprovoked. The suspect, 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, also wounded another person before officers shot and killed her at the scene.
Piacenti had returned to work that day after five months of maternity leave, finding a welcome display of pink daisies and photos of her newborn daughter on her desk. She had been with the bank for about 18 months, serving in the Americas Business Selection and Conflicts group.
"It was probably one of the shortest interviews, because I think within three minutes I wanted to hire her," said Hallie Ziesmer, head of the 20-person group and Piacenti’s direct supervisor. "She was obviously very intelligent, very capable. She was polished but down-to-earth."
Colleagues described Piacenti as a resourceful mentor who frequently assisted junior teammates with legal work and offered personal advice. Prior to joining the bank, she worked at Davis Polk and began her career as a buyer at Bloomingdale’s after graduating magna cum laude from Fordham Law.
A GoFundMe campaign set up to support Piacenti’s daughter has raised more than $800,000, with contributions from many Bank of America employees, according to a bank spokesperson.
