Bruce Campbell told the Adam Carolla Show he expects a five-year life expectancy following a treatable but incurable cancer diagnosis, and said he plans to continue working and living as normally as possible.

Bruce Campbell, the 68-year-old actor known for the "Evil Dead" series, told host Adam Carolla on the podcast that doctors have given him a prognosis of roughly five years to live. Campbell, who announced his cancer diagnosis in March, described the disease as treatable but not curable and declined to specify the type.

"The current thing is a five-year deal," Campbell said, adding that he intends to "live with it, not die from it." He compared dealing with cancer to a "whack-a-mole" situation, noting the constant need to manage new complications as they arise.

Campbell appeared on the show to promote his latest film, "Ernie & Emma," a dramedy about a man traveling with his late wife's ashes. The movie is on an 18-date tour of Alamo Drafthouse venues beginning Sept. 4 in Los Angeles and concluding Nov. 14 in Littleton, Colorado.

In a separate interview with The Detroit News, Campbell said he is "managing" his health and aims to maintain a normal routine for as long as possible.

The podcast episode was posted on Sept. 3, with the cancer discussion beginning around the 11:30-minute mark.
