Man charged in wife’s murder booked into Boulder County Jail on outstanding warrant

Résumé

Barry Morphew was taken into custody in Boulder County on a warrant from Alamosa County and remains jailed pending a bond hearing in his murder case.

Barry Morphew was booked into the Boulder County Jail late Thursday night, according to a custody record that shows he was arrested at 9:11 p.m. on Sept. 3 and listed as in custody by 11:11 p.m. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said the arrest stemmed from an outstanding warrant issued by Alamosa County for failure to comply with court orders.

Morphew is awaiting trial in Alamosa County for the murder of his wife, Suzanne Morphew. He had been released on a $3 million bond with strict conditions, including a court order that required him to remain at home at all times.

The custody update follows a Denver hit-and-run investigation reported by CBS Colorado, which prosecutors say involved video evidence that identified Morphew as the driver. A bond hearing in the murder case is set for Sept. 8.

"The video clearly shows the individual who perpetrated the hit-and-run," prosecutors said in a newly released motion.

Law enforcement has not provided additional details about the Thursday arrest, and the story is developing.
