NVIDIA says DLSS 5 will be added to RTX 40-series after RTX 50-series rollout
NVIDIA confirmed that it will extend its upcoming DLSS 5 neural rendering technology to the current-generation GeForce RTX 40-Series once the newer RTX 50-Series is fully optimized, though no release date was given.
NVIDIA announced that its next-generation DLSS 5 upscaling and frame-generation technology, initially slated for the upcoming GeForce RTX 50-Series "Blackwell" GPUs, will later be made available for the existing RTX 40-Series "Ada Lovelace" cards. The company said the rollout will begin after the performance of the RTX 50-Series is more fully tuned. No specific timeline for the RTX 40-Series update was provided.
"Once RTX 50 Series performance is more fully tuned, we plan to work on expanding official support to the GeForce RTX 40 Series," a company spokesperson said.
The announcement suggests that NVIDIA intends to back-port the feature rather than limiting it to the newest hardware, but it also implies that the RTX 40-Series may see the technology only after the RTX 50-Series is fully optimized.
